Scarey Day Blues
Blind Willie McTell

I been waitin round here darlin', till my fried pies done (2)
Cause I got me a nickel an' I want to get me some

My good gal got a mojo* - she's tryin' to keep it hid (2)
But Georgia Bill** got something to find that mojo with

I said: she got that mojo and she won't let me see (2)
And ev'rytime I start to love her she's tried to put that jakes*** on me

Well, she shakes like the Central**** and she wobble like the L & N**** (2)
Well, she's a hot-shot mama and I'm scared to tell her where I been

My mama's got a bed that shines like the morning star (2)
When I crawl in the middle it rides like a cadillac car

Said my baby got something, she won't tell her daddy what it is (2)
But when I crawls into my bed, I just can't keep my black stuff still

Well I done got reckless and I broke my baby’s rules (2)
And now I’m wandering 'round here I got them Scary Day Blues

Said my baby got something, she won't tell her daddy what it is (2)
But when I crawl into my bed, I just can't keep my black stuff still

** This reference is explained by the fact that the Georgia born artist Willie Samuel McTell recorded for several labels under an assortement of pseudonyms including Georgia Bill; Hot Shot Willie, Blind Sammy, and Barrelhouse Sammy. For evading the exclusive rights of record labels blues artists of that era (1930s) often used different pseudonyms.
*** propably a term used to describe a type of brakes on a truck back in the days of Blind Willie (thanks to Scott Copple for the correction and comments to this word)
